BASIX Certificate

BASIX Certificate

With accreditation from NatHERS, we are able to provide our customers with BASIX Certificates (Simulation Method). This means that we can efficiently complete the thermal comfort section of the BASIX assessment and provide greater flexibility when it comes to designs. This also means we have a better ability to identify the areas that can be improved more meaningfully, improving our efficiency and customer service. In general, by providing a BASIX Certificate, we are contributing to a more sustainable future. What is a BASIX Certificate?

Otherwise known as the Building Sustainability Index, the BASIX Certificate is a planning requirement for the NSW Government which is necessary for anyone looking to submit a building application in NSW for outdoor spas, swimming pools, townhouses, villas, alterations, and new houses.

The point of the certificate is to assess each new proposition for any applications against a specific water reduction and energy target. The benefits of this is that each new home, or any other addition listed above, will be built in a more comfortable and cost-effective way, and any swimming pools or spas will meet the BASIX energy and water consumption requirements.

The calculation will be based on a range of data, including design features, location, size, and more. If the commitments have been met and have been clearly marked on the architectural plans for the building, a BASIX Certificate will be awarded.

What is the BASIX Certificates Simulation Method?

The purpose of the simulation method is to allow for a bigger and more advanced selection of insulation and building materials. The benefit of this is that glazing will be improved and other building costs can be dramatically reduced.

The simulation method works by:

• Working with an accredited assessor who uses an approved software device to stimulate the swelling
• Having calculated the cooling and heating loads, they will be entered from the Assessor Certificate into BASIX

Our aim is for your dwelling to pass the thermal comfort section by using the simulation method, which means that the heating and cooling loads are required to be less than the maximum loads, as BASIX will have calculated. This will be based on your specific climate zone.

Here at Australian Building Assessors, we will provide a BASIX Certificate to the best of our abilities, and are dedicated to contributing to the sustainability of the future. Don’t hesitate to contact us for more information and guidance.
